Shepherd's Nook Food Pantry

Jesus said that when the Holy Ghost comes upon us, we receive of the meanings of that word "power" (dunamis, in the Greek), is "the influence that arises from riches and wealth"...this  means that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we have the POWER of riches and wealth, whether we have the riches and wealth or not!!  The Shepherd's Nook Food Pantry is living proof of this concept, giving away over $40,000.00 worth of food each month, without ever having $40,000 per month to give away = ).  *Further discussion of this word available at bottom of page, for those interested...*

Shepherd's Nook began as a local missions project of Salem Full Gospel Church, and continues to be staffed largely by congregants of Salem Full Gospel, as well as others in the community, and from other local churches.  Operations of Shepherd's Nook have been transferred to the Lifeway Center, Inc, a community ministry organization founded by the pastors of Salem Full Gospel, in order to better serve the needs of the community, and to free up facilities in the SFG Family Center for the Kidz Alive services.  Shepherd's Nook is now located downtown, at 701 N. Main.

Shepherd's Nook  provides food to over 1500 residents each month,   which equates to 30 % of the population of Salem.  Those wishing to donate time or resources to the food pantry are encouraged to contact the directors, Bill or Sheri Stack, at 247-1116/1367.

Donations are tax-deductible, and may qualify for Missouri State tax credits.

The Lifeway Center Inc is a 501c3 tax-exempt community ministry organization, and you can check out their legal/financial status at the Attorney General's "Check A Charity" program, by calling the Attorney General's office  or checking out their online information below: - is the site, and then type "Lifeway Center", or scroll down to find it.  They have the most current information on file.

One of the responsibilities of the early church was to feed the poor (Acts 6).   In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, "...You shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit is come upon you:  and you will be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."  He was talking about impacting this world for Christ on a local, regional, national, and world-wide scale.  The word "power", in Thayer's Greek Definitions, means:

- power for performing miracles; - moral power and excellence of soul; -power and influence which belong to riches and wealth; -power and resources arising from numbers; -power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, and hosts...

In Strong's Greek Concordance, "power" means:  -force; -miraculous power; -ability; -abundance; - strength; - mighty work...  We thank the Lord for all the means and abilities we have been granted to help fulfill this task; He has used, and continues to use, many to help.
